Churches are known for generously donating funds to mission projects, but some share an even more precious resource – their volunteers – with another church, camp or school, building God’s Kingdom together through good deeds.

The board of Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask., emerged from December board meetings with sobering news: the current school year (2014–2015) will be the 87-year-old rural Saskatchewan institution’s final year.

One could begin by describing the water, or one could attempt to tell about the rich, deep and changing colours on the set. One could talk about the amazing effort and concentration that it took to bring this drama together after a difficult month for the students and the Bethany College family.

This is not the end of Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask., but the beginning of new roads for the 87-year-old Bible training institute. That message was clearly expressed by 32 stakeholders, staff and faculty who gathered for a discernment summit on the college’s future Oct. 4, 2014, at Forest Grove Community Church, Saskatoon.
