Yvonne Martin, a member of Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church, was killed in the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti.
The 67-year-old retired nurse had just landed and settled into a guesthouse in Port-au-Prince with her team of seven from Kitchener, Ont.-based Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada when the quake struck and the house collapsed. Martin’s colleagues escaped but she was buried under the rubble. The group was to provide humanitarian assistance to several northern Haiti communities.
Waterloo MB Church posted a memorial to their website (www.waterloomb.org), and a Facebook page (RIP Yvonne Martin) as active within days of her death.
