Each year following B.C.’s provincial convention, MB pastors and spouses are invited to attend a retreat, sponsored by the B.C. conference, at Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa in the Fraser Valley.
This year, a special guest speaker will address a topic most pastoral couples grapple with: their own personal budget. Mary Hunt, who specializes in “debt-proof living,” has appeared on Oprah, Good Morning America, and other popular network shows, written several books, and writes a syndicated column. Al Thiessen of the Canadian conference’s stewardship ministries, who arranged for the speaker, says Hunt grew up as a PK – a pastor’s kid – so she knows the territory well.
Worship times during the retreat will be led by Starfield.

Meanwhile, Mary Hunt’s presence in southern B.C. in May has provided opportunity for a Langley MB church to present a session open to the public in their growing suburban community. Jericho Ridge Community Church is advertising a session on May 5 called “Debt-Proofing Your Life.”
