Gediminas and his small MB church in Vilnius were in shock, but they were also determined to do whatever they could to help. Together with other MB church leaders in Lithuania, they knew they had to do something.

In 2018, MB Mission embraced a new name: Multiply. The tagline of the new global mission agency was: together that the world may know. Still based in the Mennonite Brethren family, Multiply was called to facilitate church planting locally, nationally and globally. The vision was focused on making disciples, planting churches and growing partnerships.
“When I was there, they showed me tulips in a jar,” said Yulia. “What? When had tulips bloomed? I was constantly crying and worried, I did not see this happen. I went outside and birds were chirping, the grass was already green. Spring had come, and I had not even noticed! Next time, I want us to notice, to see when spring returns to Ukraine.”
A woman put her hand on a world map and asked God to show her a town she should pray for. She was led to pray for a town in Iran. After praying for that town for thirty years, an Iranian pastor came to her church. He testified to the great things God had been doing in his town in Iran.
Throughout her life, Lavern has come back to that simple question again and again: “God, what do you want to do in and through me?”
From the start of the Russian invasion, Multiply has been working continuously with leaders of our MB churches in Ukraine, led by Maxym Oliferovski, with Multiply’s efforts coordinated by Johann Matthies, Regional Team Leader for Europe & Central Asia. The Multiply “Ukraine in crisis” webpage is constantly being updated with the latest info, prayer requests, giving details, photos, and videos as Multiply receives them from those on the ground.
Kora is passionate about encouraging other believers to engage their neighbours who come from different cultures around the world. She hopes that they will be more adventurous in trying different foods and communicating across language barriers. “Ask your neighbors about their festivals,” she pleads, “and learn about their values, their worldview, so you can effectively communicate the Gospel in a language they will understand.”
The Board is continuing to walk out the Task Force recommendations in ways that honor God, and strengthens the foundation for the continued growth of church planting and mission partnership. We are grateful for how our partners and churches have continued to actively support the work of mission and that more people are coming to know Jesus. The organization is fruitful, stable and in a good financial position moving forward.
