Seminary installs 8th president, creates task force

On Nov. 9, the community of Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary installed Dr. Franklyn “Lynn” Jost as the seminary’s eighth president. Jost has served as acting president of the seminary since September 2008.

Some 200 people turned out for the celebration that took place at North Fresno MB Church.

Year-long negotiations with Fuller Seminary ended unsuccessfully when Fuller withdrew due to internal concerns about new modes of education delivery assumed in the partnership model. However, MBBS’s goal remains to strengthen its mission while simplifying operations and expanding access to students through partnerships.

In November, the board created two task forces to address changes in structure and delivery of seminary education in Canada and the U.S. Canadian task force members are Ron Toews, Willy Reimer, John Unger, Herb Suderman, Doug Berg, and Jack Falk.
