“It gives me a lot of joy to do this,” says Manon Desjardins, a volunteer in the MCC Quebec material resource centre in suburban Montreal, as she knots quilts. “Maybe someday I will work in an orphanage, but for now I’m touching a little part of my dream.”
My oldest daughter is in Grade 1 this year. On the first day of school, my wife and I realized that we needed to teach Avry to tie her shoes. (Flip-flop-friendly B.C. weather and velcro made it easy to avoid that chore until now.)
