Meet your One Mission Task Force

Leading up to Gathering 2018, the One Mission Partnership Task Force will listen, discern and submit a plan for Canadian MB people to increase collaborative effectiveness in working alongside what God is doing.

The task force will

  • articulate a clear statement of “one mission” for all MB churches and ministries across Canada,
  • discern structural solutions for aligning ministry partnerships around this one mission.

Learn more about the task force:

Should I say, “Yay, there are some women on board” or should I say “Why are only 1/4 of this group women?”

Given our history as a denomination, and that there was a time, not all that long ago, where women weren’t even allowed to be delegates at conventions, I would say that “yay” would be the better option. Just my take tho…

I would say both! We can celebrate the women (and the men) on board, as they will contribute important and significant insights to the task force, and (as Kevin points out) we can celebrate the growth that led us to this place. Knowing some of them from conference activities and meeting with them, I am really thankful for their brilliance, their God-given gifts, and the experience they bring to the table. That said, we can also recognize that this is not very balanced, and there are certainly more women in our conference that we hope to see called into roles such as these. May we pray for God to move our conference so that we see balance in such settings that reflect the way we have been together created in God’s image.
