A message from BCMB
No doubt by now you have heard or seen the devastating floods in many parts of British Columbia, particularly in the Sumas flats area. We have been in contact with all our churches affected to see how we can assist them in this time of need.
So far, Arnold MB church is the only church that has been directly affected by the floodwaters. However, many of our churches have congregants who live in the flood zone areas. Some of these are farmers who have been hit especially hard, many of whom have lost their livestock.
Please pray for Arnold Community Church, Broadway Church, Central Community Church, Greendale MB Church, Main Street Church, Sardis Community Church, and Yarrow MB Church as they assist those who have been affected by the flood. Let’s also remember to pray for the emergency response teams who have been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of those who have been affected.
Additionally, MCC is working in coordination with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) and local community partners, as well as the MB and MC conference leadership. MCC’s focus will be on the immediate impact on vulnerable members of the community, especially people who are living homeless or at risk, as well as indigenous neighbours who are affected. MCC is providing support via their thrift shops to victims of flooding who are needing assistance with purchasing goods. They are open to working together in various ways to assist those in our church family and vulnerable people in our community. For further information about the MCC response please contact the office and ask for Wayne Bremner, MCC BC Executive Director, by email or by phone at 604-850-6639
