austrianIn a historically Catholic country, Linz MB Church in Austria celebrated their 50th anniversary September 27–28.

Fifty-three years ago, Abe and Irene Neufeld, together with their three sons, arrived in Linz, beginning ministry in the many refugee camps in that area.

A fellowship group developed, which led to the formation of an MB church. A church building was constructed and dedicated in 1958.

Through the years, more than a dozen churches have been formed in Wels, Steyr, Salzburg, Gmunden, and one church in Vienna, and many more home groups meet informally. As a conference, the churches fellowship with each other and with other churches in larger evangelistic programs.

The anniversary celebration took place in the church, with a tent pitched alongside for informal activities such as fellowship, children’s activities, and food. The theme for Saturday was “Remembering the past – what are we thankful for?” and Sunday’s, theme, “Looking ahead – what can we expect?” was a moving and dynamic experience for the entire church.

At the church’s invitation, Abe and Irene, accompanied by son Charles and his wife, Bonnie, were present at the celebration and shared the message on Sunday.

“The 50th anniversary was a special milestone for the church. May the Lord continue to bless their testimony as they focus on him,” said Abe.
