It was a new day as 70 years of Communism came to an end. The new words sparked formation of a new ministry to answer that gospel hunger. Logos International formed in Germany in the 1985; visionary Johannes Reimer, a Mennonite emigrant from the USSR to Germany, brought the dream to Canada where it has flourished for 25 years.
One December 2012 night, Duane Arndt dreamed about a reunion honouring choir director Jake Willms and his wife Rita. After a Facebook post about Arndt’s dream received dozens of response in the first 24 hours, he called Jake’s oldest daughter Lori Willms Neufeld, and a reunion committee was formed. Arndt’s somnolent reverie galvanized Reach Out/Celebration Choir alumni across the country to offer tribute to man who changed the course of many lives one song at a time.
For the 25th year, a group from Community Fellowship Church in Newton, Man., travelled north to Snow Lake, Man., to take part in their sister church’s annual fall supper, Oct. 25–26. Christian Centre Fellowship Snow Lake hosts the meal for the town in the local community hall, serving up a feast followed by a program of skits, testimonies, songs, dance, and comedy, aided by the group from Newton.
