DeathsWalterWhen Walter was 15, as his mother lay dying, she asked if they would meet again in heaven; the next year Walter was baptized. Walter and Eleanor met as best man and maid of honour at the wedding of his uncle and her sister. Walter was a farmer and bus driver in Abbotsford, B.C. He served the church as usher and treasurer, and for a 4-year term as a missionary in Indonesia with Regions Beyond Missionary Union. During a heart attack at 48, Walter received a glimpse of heaven that dispelled his fears of death. Heart surgeries in 1978 and 1990 allowed him to continue farming and to travel to Israel, Alaska, and across Canada in an RV. Walter never complained and remained strong in his faith throughout life.
