Sophie Dueck died June 6, 2011 at 99. She was born May 12, 1912 in Mennon, Sask. to John and Marie Baerg. She accepted Christ as Saviour and was baptized into Ebenezer MB Church, Dalmeny, Sask., Aug. 11, 1929. She attended Dalmeny Bible School for 2 years. Sophie married John Dueck July 8, 1934. They moved to a farm in Greendale, B.C., in 1937 and became members of Greendale MB Church, where they promoted the spiritual welfare of the church. Sophie felt her primary mission field was her family and all those she met along life’s journey. She had a gift for encouraging others and prayed for many people daily. She moved to Menno Place, Abbotsford, B.C., in 1998. Predeceased by John, daughter Gladys Bahnman, infant great-granddaughter, 10 siblings; Sophie is mourned by children Roy (Eva), Evelyn (Rob) Brown; son-in-law Elmer (Janice) Bahnman; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
