Rudy studied at MB Bible College, Winnipeg; Waterloo (Ont.) Lutheran University; and Ontario College of Education. He was ordained as lay minister at Virgil (Ont.) MB Church. Rudy began teaching at Eden Christian College, where he later served as principal, and was a teacher and guidance counsellor at high schools in the Niagara Region. He pastored Niagara Christian Fellowship Chapel, Fairview MB Church, and Virgil MB Church. Rudy valued interaction and mentorship with students, church members, and colleagues. He served as moderator and conference minister of the Ontario MB conference, and on boards including MB Bible College/Concord College, board of faith and life, and MCC Canada. Rudy and Irene pastored with MB Mission in Dresden, Germany. Rudy modelled a life of service. He loved music, and poured himself into home building projects and gardening. Everyone enjoyed his sense of humour and optimism. As his health declined in recent years, he focused on studying the Bible.
