Reuben was known for his sense of humour, love of sports, and dedication to the Lord. He spent his time farming, raising his family, gardening, driving school bus, and pitching for ball teams. Later he took up curling and bowling. He loved playing chess or crokinole with his grandchildren. Reuben served Main Centre MB Church as usher and deacon. He cared about others and was quick to make amends. Reuben instilled a love of God into his family through devotions and by example; he was frequently seen reading his Bible and writing encouraging notes.
