d02-PeterWiebePeter Wiebe died Oct. 1, 2011. He was born Nov. 8, 1930 in Winkler, Man. to Isaac and Helena Wiebe. When Peter was 15, the family moved to Yarrow, B.C., where he worked at Morrison Steel and Wire. Peter accepted the Lord as Saviour through a Brunk revival meeting at 20. He met Elvera at Vancouver MB Church’s youth group. They dated 3 years and married Aug. 15, 1953. Peter was a faithful member of Fraserview Church, where he ushered and sang in the choir. After Morrison Steel closed, Peter worked as a janitor. The family moved to North Vancouver. In 1968, Peter began a 27-year career at Tree Island Steel. He loved travelling to mills in the U.S. to demonstrate how to set up machines. Peter loved country music. At 59, Peter became one of the fortunate 20 percent to survive a brain aneurysm. Upon retirement, Peter and Elvera moved to Abbotsford, B.C., where they became members of Bakerview Church. In 2009, Peter had a slow bleeding stroke that left him unable to walk. Peter is mourned by Elvera; sons Richard (Gabrielle), Dennis; 2 grandchildren; 1 sister.
