Peter Kroeker

Peter James Kroeker died June 5, 2010. He was born July 21, 1923 in Winkler, Man. to Abram A. Kroeker and Elizabeth Nickel. He was baptized into Winkler MB Church Aug. 9, 1936. After attending Winkler Bible Institute and University of Manitoba, he became a partner in the family farm in 1946. Peter married Ruth Hiebert Feb. 21, 1948. In 1968, he began doctoral studies in cultural anthropology in Kansas, earning his PhD in 1978. Peter worked for MB Missions and Services, first in Africa and then out of their Canadian offices in global economic development. He was a member of River East MB Church, Winnipeg. In 2005, Ruth died. June 10, 2006, Peter married Alvina Janzen Block. Predeceased by Ruth, daughter Magenta (George Callaghan) in 1997; Peter is mourned by Alvina; children Lucy (Del Epp), James (Kate), Peter (Ellen), Mark (Marcia), Naomi (Michael Austin); 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
