Olga Klassen died Oct. 27, 2010 after a battle with cancer. She was born Apr. 11, 1931 in Crimea, Ukraine to Gerhard and Anna Braun. She endured hardships: the Stalinist regime’s removal of her father when she was 6 and a long battle with tuberculosis in her teens; even so, her faith in God grew stronger. Olga and her mother immigrated to Canada in 1947. Olga married John Klassen in 1954. July 1, 2006, John died. His death left a void, but Olga continued to live life fully. Olga loved to work behind the scenes, helping wherever she saw a need and giving generously. She was always looking for ways to show interest in and support for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, whom she prayed for daily. Olga had a strong personal relationship with Jesus. As her illness progressed, she found great comfort in Jesus. She attended McIvor Avenue MB Church, Winnipeg. Predeceased by John, great-grandson Jay Benjamin; Olga is mourned by children Elleanore (Ray) Mills, Alvin (Joy), Neil (Ingrid), Ruth (Todd) Lohvinenko, Rick (Corinna); 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson.
