Martha immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1925. Her life was shaped by a deep love for Jesus and faithful fellowship with the MB church, where she was a member till her death. Her first employment centred on helping the family financially, but in 1946, she entered Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing. Her career took her to Germany on an MCC assignment in 1949, to Cambridge Bay in Canada’s north and many places throughout B.C. Martha retired from nursing in 1980. She cared for her mother and family members, sang and attended concerts. She travelled with family and friends, visiting her nephews and nieces – who adored her. Martha was active in the church and community: volunteering as a driver for the BC Cancer Society, and visiting people in hospitals and care homes. She wrote, “I marvel at God’s grace and kindness in my life and in giving me a loving extended family and lasting friendships.”
