Maria Falk died Dec. 1, 2011 after a battle with ALS. She was born Apr. 30, 1937 in Einlage, Ukraine to David and Susanne Thiessen. When she was 6, her family travelled to Germany where they lived in camps and villages for 7 years. They immigrated to Uruguay, where Maria accepted Jesus as Saviour. At 24, she married Gerhard Falk. They lived in Friesland, Paraguay, for 5 years, then immigrated to the U.S. Next, Maria lived in Vancouver 12 years, and settled in Abbotsford, B.C., for the rest of her life. Maria was a loving wife, mother, Oma, and faithful servant of Jesus. She inspired and blessed others, living life to the full. She enjoyed travelling, walking, entertaining, and spending time with grandchildren. She had the gift of hospitality. Predeceased by brother David, Maria is mourned by Gerhard; son Marvin (Natasha); 3 grandchildren; 4 siblings. The funeral was at King Road MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C.
