Margaret Janz died July 7, 2010. She was born Aug. 29, 1923 in Alexanderwohl, Ukraine to Peter and Helena Martens. The family immigrated to Canada in 1925 and settled on a farm in Coaldale, Alta. In 1935, she accepted Christ as Saviour and later was baptized into Coaldale MB Church, where she played piano for choir director Jacob Janz, leading to their marriage Aug. 29, 1943. After attending MB Bible College 1946–1958, they spent the next 53 years farming in Vauxhall, Alta. Margaret enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, playing piano and organ, teaching piano students, and writing letters to loved ones. Her zest for living, strong friendships, love of beauty and music, and faith in God underpinned her life. Predeceased by Jacob in 2009, Margaret is mourned by children Marjorie, Eleanor (Sam) Petkau, Vera (Dwight) Nickel, Irene (Henry) Hamm, Ben (Ethel), Alf (Martha); 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings. The memorial was at Vauxhall (Alta.) MB Church.
