After a year in Lechfeld refugee camp, Germany, Greta’s family immigrated to Canada in 1923. Greta completed Grades 1–8 in Coaldale and Gem, Alta. At 16, she began to work as a domestic. She sang in a church choir and attended Bethesda Bible Institute. In 1936, the family moved to Black Creek, B.C., where Greta continued working as a domestic. In 1968, after 29 years of pioneer farming, Greta and Henry moved to Glenelle Place, Kelowna, B.C., where they gardened, hosted friends and family and served Willow Park Church. After 21 years, they moved to Willow Terrace, and in 2007, Greta entered assisted living. She died from a heart attack.
