When Lydia was 3, her mother died, leaving 9 children. When her father married Maria Klassen, 10 more children filled the space, with Lydia sleeping under the sewing machine. In 1955, she met Arthur in the North Kildonan MB Church choir in Winnipeg. Their love grew into a foundation that supported and profoundly shaped their children and many friends. They lived in Brandon, Man., 1967–2011. Lydia prayed constantly, open Bible and Our Daily Bread always on her table. She was loyal to family, friends, and church community. Lydia loved singing, sewing, and gardening. She participated in baseball, curling, golf, Christian Women’s Clubs, small groups, and puzzlemaking. Lydia chose joy in everything life brought her.
