Lena IsaacLena Isaac died Feb. 4, 2012. She was born Aug. 17, 1923 in Wohldemfuerst, Russia to Peter and Elizabeth Giesbrecht. The family immigrated to Mexico in 1924, and to Canada in 1926, settling in Yarrow, B.C. At 9, Lena knew she wanted to become a missionary. She was baptized into Yarrow MB Church at 16, and for the next 4 years attended the local MB Bible school. She took 1 year to complete high school, then moved to Winnipeg to attend MB Bible College. In 1947, Lena worked for West Coast Children’s Mission throughout B.C. Lena married Peter Isaac, a fellow Bible college student, in 1950. They served with the Mexican Indian Mission 3 years, then settled in Chilliwack, B.C. Lena was a member at Central Community (MB) Church, Chilliwack, where she led many home Bible studies. She also wrote freelance devotionals for the MB Herald. Lena will be remembered as a resourceful, hard-working mother. Predeceased by Peter, 6 siblings; Lena is mourned by daughters Sophie Rosen, Shirley Isaac; 3 siblings.
