Katie Berg died Jan. 18, 2011 at 93. She was born July 27, 1917 near Waldheim, Ukraine to John and Katherine Huebert. The family immigrated to Canada in 1925, settling in Beechy, Sask. In 1919, they moved to a farm near Waldheim, Sask., where she married Frank Berg Oct. 30, 1941. Katie and Frank raised their family on a farm near Brotherfield MB Church, Waldheim. In 1975, they retired in Coaldale, Alta., and joined the MB Church, where they made many friends and found a new meaning to life. Katie was a skilled seamstress, crafter, musician, and a frequent friend to strangers. Predeceased by Frank in 1996, 4 siblings; Katie is mourned by children Gilbert (Adeline), Merrill (John) Unger, Harley (Esther), Dorothy (John) Hubert; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 sister; in-laws.
