Janet Marie Martens died Sept. 29, 2011. She was born Apr. 7, 1955 in Vancouver, B.C. to Herbert and Anne Brandt. Janet was a timid child, but excelled at playing the piano. She accepted Jesus as Saviour at an early age. Her faith was central throughout her life. Janet attended Briercrest Bible College, Caronport, Sask. She did secretarial work until attending Vancouver Community College, where she received a medical office assistant certificate. Janet married Rudy Martens at Richmond (B.C.) Bethel Church, in 1976. Later they moved to Ladner, B.C., and became members of Cedar Park (MB) Church, Delta, B.C. Janet chose to stay home and raise her sons because she felt it was the most meaningful thing. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and bookkeeper for Rudy’s contracting business. In 1985, Janet was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which she battled for 26 years. Her greatest desire was realized: to live long enough to raise her sons into adulthood. Janet is mourned by Rudy; sons Jason (Andrea), Ian (Danielle); her parents; 3 siblings.
