Jacob BargenJacob Bargen died Jan. 20, 2012. He was born in 1926 in Altonau, Ukraine to Jacob Bargen and Maria Boschmann. He fled to Germany with his mother and sisters, and after becoming separated from his family during WWII, they reconnected and came to Canada in 1951. Jacob married Lilly Mierau May 3, 1952. He lived a life of commitment to God and was baptized into the MB Church in 1955. He was an active member of North Kildonan MB Church, Winnipeg, volunteering as a boys’ brigade leader and a deacon. He loved his men’s prayer group. Jacob took interest in his children’s activities and sporting events and enjoyed celebrations at the Winnipeg Beach cottage. Jacob worked at Monarch Industries from his arrival in Winnipeg until retirement. As plant supervisor, he took great pride in his work. Besides jigsaw puzzles, Jacob’s favorite pastime was his garden. Predeceased by 2 sisters, Jacob is mourned by Lilly; children Norbert (Elly), Victor (Brenda), Berni (Judi), Doris (Thomas); 17 grandchildren and their 10 spouses; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters.
