Henry Loewen died Nov. 19, 2011. He was born Jan. 20, 1933 in Ukraine to John and Elisabeth Loewen. In 1944, the family immigrated to Paraguay through Germany. In his teens, Henry accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and taught Sunday school. In 1956, the family immigrated to Ontario, where Henry worked 11 years as a cutter at Port Weller Dry Docks. Henry married Helen Braun in 1965. In 1970, Henry broke his back. He dealt with constant pain, back and cancer surgeries, and later, Alzheimer’s disease, but his faith kept him strong and at peace. He was a doting grandfather. Henry was a member of Scott Street MB Church, St. Catharines, Ont. Predeceased by 1 sister, Henry is mourned by Helen; daughter Rina (Henry) Heyde; 1 granddaughter; 5 siblings.
