Helen accepted Jesus at a young age. After Bible school in Altona, Man., she returned home to Killarney, Man., to work as a phone operator and a bank teller. In 1976, Helen and David moved to the farm 12 miles northeast of Boissevain, Man., where they raised a family of hockey players. Helen loved to garden, sew, camp, quilt, and spend time with family and friends. Helen kept busy working part-time at the Ninga (Man.) café, serving the Ninga ladies group, volunteering for the Brandon (Man.) MCC, and attending Wheat King hockey games. Even through her 4-year journey with cancer, Helen didn’t complain. She loved to start stories but sometimes laughed too hard to finish them. Never one to flaunt her faith, she lived each day to serve Jesus.
