Harry Ernest Pankratz died Sept. 23, 2009. He was born July 23, 1931 in Pitt Meadows, B.C. to Jacob and Anna Pankratz. He grew up in Abbotsford, B.C. Harry battled rheumatic fever as a child, resulting in failing health in later years. A man of deep faith, Harry was baptized in his youth at South Abbotsford (B.C.) MB Church. Harry married Welma Siemens June 30, 1955. After earning 3 degrees from University of B.C., Harry enjoyed an 11-year high school teaching career, followed by several administrative positions at Vancouver Community College, ending his career as principal at the King Edward campus. He served Fraserview MB Church faithfully, including 17 years as moderator, and was a member of the B.C. MB conference board. Harry taught himself to play piano and had a gift for making others feel like the most important person in the room. Predeceased by son Jim in 2008, Harry is mourned by Welma; daughter Lorraine (Clint) Hamilton; 1 daughter-in-law; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother; 2 sisters.
