George John Siemens died Jan. 26, 2008 at age 101. He was born June 22, 1906 in Herzenberg, Ukraine. George accepted Christ as Saviour at 11, and became a teacher. He was engaged to Anna and moved to Canada alone in the 1920s, where they were reunited. In Coaldale, Alta., George tried farming, then construction. For 10 years he worked as an orderly in a hospital. He loved taping church services and other German programs, which he played for the sick and elderly over the telephone. Predeceased by Anna, son Ben, and 2 siblings; he is mourned by children Alma, Ernie, and Walter; 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters; 3 half-sisters; several great-grandchildren.
