Frieda’s family immigrated to Canada and homesteaded in Mullingar, Sask., for 9 years before moving to Gem, then Coaldale, Alta. She was orphaned at 12. At 14, she worked as housemaid and nanny in Lethbridge, Alta. Frieda attended 1 year at Coaldale Bible School. At 17, she worked for Del Monte General Store, Coaldale, and at 20, married the boss’s son Henry. Frieda and Henry operated Del Monte Photo Studio in Yarrow and Abbotsford. They were ordained as deacons at Clearbrook MB Church in 1962. She helped in Sunday school and led the ladies aid society. Frieda enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren and weekend fishing trips.
