Frieda faced many challenges with tenacity and courage during her 102 years of life. At 1, she lost her mother. Her formal education ended during Grade 8. She lived through the Depression along with 15 siblings. Her most profound loss was the sudden death of her beloved Herb, husband of only 22 years. Widowed at 46, she turned to her faith in God, her church, her family, and friends. Her strength and independence grew over the years as she lived a life of gratitude and service; baking, canning, cooking, sewing, and volunteering for MCC for more than 60 years. She moved from Abbotsford to Vernon, B.C., after her 100th birthday.
