d11-ErnaHiebertErna Hiebert died Nov. 8, 2011. She was born Jan. 31, 1939 in Port Rowan, Ont. to Jacob and Margaret Reimer. She accepted the Lord as a young girl after revival meetings, and was baptized later. Erna took piano lessons at 4; by 13, she was playing for the choir. She received her ARCT in 1959 and began teaching piano. Erna married Henry Hiebert July 22, 1961. They farmed in Port Rowan many years. Erna kept busy with canning, cooking, sewing, and raising children. They took their family on camping trips to Florida, Manitoba, Banff, and the East Coast. Erna arranged games nights, sleepovers, and tea parties for her grandchildren, and made each a blue-jean quilt. At Port Rowan MB Church, Erna was active playing piano and organ, hosting speakers, teaching Sunday school, serving with Henry as youth sponsors, deacon couple, and Gideons. The last 7 years, health problems slowed her down, and she required frequent blood transfusions. Erna will be remembered as a gentle, kind-hearted, giving woman of God.
