Deaths-Elizabeth-FunkBetty’s family was among the last of the Mennonites to be granted visas and arrived in Canada in 1930, settling in Yarrow, B.C. Betty earned room and board by doing chores, so she could attend Kitsilano High School, Vancouver. Trained as a nurse at Vancouver General Hospital, Betty had a rewarding career on the maternity ward and in public health. After retiring, she cared for her mother in Yarrow. In Vancouver, Betty volunteered in seniors’ complexes and the MCC store. She enjoyed her last years at Blenheim Lodge before a stroke ended her life.
