Edmond Velie Dyck died Nov. 29, 2009. He was born Mar. 12, 1923 in Winkler, Man. to John L. and Helena (Enns) Dyck. Ed was baptized in 1945. After graduating from Winkler High School, he attended University of Saskatchewan and United College (currently University of Winnipeg). Ed married Dorothy Wiebe in 1949. After further studies at MB Bible College and University of Manitoba, Ed began teaching in Rosenfeld and Morris. In 1959, the family returned to Winnipeg where Ed taught English at Miles Macdonell Collegiate and River East Collegiate. Ed enjoyed reading and travelling. Ed and Dorothy travelled to Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and the family camped all over North America. He was a member of River East MB Church for more than 45 years, serving in Sunday school, church council, and stewardship commission. He was a member of the Donwood Manor board and spent several years as chair. Predeceased by Dorothy in 2007, 3 brothers; Ed is mourned by daughter Judith; son John (Dorothy); 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; in-laws.
