Earl grew up with a love of the land and a special relationship with his horse and dog. He excelled in hockey, baseball, curling, and coaching. Earl and Shirley operated a farm, where he encouraged his children’s 4-H projects. Earl served his community on the school board, board of trade, the agricultural society, and as director of the dairy pool. His greatest asset was his warmth that set others at ease. Earl and Shirley visited hospitals and looked after their friends. They made a public declaration of faith in 1984 by becoming baptized.
