Jake began working on a farm at 14. In 1964, the family moved to B.C., where he worked for Wall and Redekop Feeds until retirement. A cowboy at heart, Jake loved camping, horseback riding, gold panning, bowling, fishing, photography, chess, travelling, and playing guitar, accordion, and violin. He was a self-taught mechanic, a baseball coach, and Big Brother. Jake loved to meet new people and donate Bibles to the church.
