Abram A DyckAbram A. Dyck died Dec. 31, 2011. He was born Jan. 5, 1925 near Winker, Man. to Abram and Agnetha Dyck. When Abe was 2, the family moved to Mulingar, Sask., to farm 160 acres purchased for $10 from CPR. Ten years later, the family of 9 moved to Campden, Ont., with only a car and 4 suitcases. Abe accepted Christ at 8, and at 16, recommitted his life and was baptized into Vineland (Ont.) MB Church. At 17, he attended Winkler (Man.) Bible Institute. At 21, Abe volunteered for MCC caring for animals on a ship to Europe after WWII. Abe married Nettye Wiens of Leamington, Ont., Nov. 17, 1951, and they farmed together near Campden. He loved woodworking. Abe spent his life serving Vineland MB Church, teaching Sunday school and volunteering on church-related construction projects. He suffered a stroke and heart attack. Predeceased by 4 siblings; Abram is mourned by Nettye; children Irene (Henry), Marvin (Edith), Arthur (Suzanne), Gerald (Evelyne), Bill (Donna), Larry (Marg), Ruth (Dave); 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
