After 80 years of ministry in Grassy Lake, Alta., Westview Community Church closed Oct. 26, 2008 with a service of celebration to remember God’s good work. The church was formally organized in 1927 by Peter Neufeld and David Penner. In 1982, the church moved into a building in town and changed from Grassy Lake MB Church, to the present name. Kris Peters was minister from 2000 until the final service in 2008. Although the church has disbanded, “God hasn’t moved,” writes church reporter Faye Beyer. “He’s still in our community, working in people’s lives and watching over us all.”
