Gord Fleming, director of church planting for the B.C. conference, has taken on the additional role of provincial extension director team leader, under the umbrella of Regenerate 21-01. For the past two years, Fleming has led a fruitful ministry of church planting in B.C. as full-time director of church planting. The B.C. executive board has approved his move to work 10 percent of his time as extension team leader.

Lucas Plett began as youth pastor at Richmond Park MB Church, Brandon, Man., July 10. He studied at Canadian Mennonite University, and previously served at Rosthern (Sask.) Mennonite Church. Lucas and his wife Charlotte have one daughter.

Canadian Mennonite University appointed Terry Schellenberg as vice president external, responsible for institutional public relations, including communications and resource generation. Terry has an MA in theology and ethics from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary and has worked as a teacher and principal of Mennonite secondary institutions in Calgary and Kitchener, Ont.

David Balzer has been appointed instructor in the communications and media studies program at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg. Holding MAs in speech communication and New Testament studies, Balzer has been a media producer at Family Life Network since 1997, and is co-host of God-Talk, a call-in radio show on CJOB, a Winnipeg station.

John Longhurst has resigned as director of communications at Canadian Mennonite University. Beginning May 1, he will be director of marketing and sales for Mennonite Publishing Network. John has more than 25 years of experience in communications and marketing with Mennonite organizations both in the U.S. and Canada, including Mennonite Central Committee and Mennonite Economic Development Associates.
