Nathan Friedt
began as pastor of youth at Parliament Community Church, Regina, in August. The commissioning service was Sept. 7. Nathan is married to Chelsey and they have one son, Oliver. Nathan previously worked as a youth care worker at the Ranch Ehrlo Society, Regina.

Dion Grimm
began as lead pastor at Kelstern Community Church in Hodgeville, Sask., Sept. 1. Dion, his wife Tammy, and children Joshua, Kaitlyn, Cassidy, and Emmanuel moved from B.C., where Dion served as associate pastor at Creston Baptist Church.

Mike Rea was named program director of Ministry Quest, a leadership development program of MB Biblical Seminary. Rea, a native Californian and graduate of Fresno Pacific University, worked with MQ from 2004–2006 in a shared role with MCC. For the past two years, he led an internship program with UrbanPromise in Vancouver. Rea is currently working toward a master of arts in business leadership from Trinity Western University.

At the request of the board of directors, Jim Holm resigned as president of MB Biblical Seminary for personal reasons, effective Aug. 29. The board of directors appointed academic dean Lynn Jost as acting president for an interim period.

James and Joan Alty, founding members of Crossroads MB Church, Winnipeg, moved to South Africa to serve a 5-year term as MCC country representatives for South Africa, Lesotho, and Swaziland. Their responsibilities will include oversight of the Generations at Risk HIV/AIDS program, the Global Family Program, and water projects.

Claire Ewert Fisher was appointed executive director of MCC Saskatchewan, Sept. 1. She replaces Bruno Baerg who leaves the position after more than 12 years of service to become MCC’s associate director for Southern Africa. Ewert Fisher and her husband Garth are co-pastors of Mennonite churches in Herschel and Fiske, Sask.

Bringing to a close almost four decades of evangelism and church planting leadership with the MB conference across Canada, James Nikkel finished a five-year assignment in March as director of Disciple Making International, a ministry of MBMSI. James and his wife Elfrieda worked as a team, involved in the formation of 60 new churches in 13 language groups, and pioneering camp ministries and youth programs. They have postponed their retirement by accepting a part-time mission leadership role with International Christian Mission Support in Abbotsford, B.C.
