Doug Heidebrecht resigned as Centre for MB Studies director, effective Aug. 31. Since July 2008, Doug has collected theological resources by MB writers addressing issues facing MB churches. Doug and his wife Sherry are pursuing ministry with MBMSI and begin ministry training in B.C. this fall.
Église Chretiénne Évangélique de Ste Thérèse (Québec) welcomed Normand Toupin as advisor for growth and development Mar. 16. Normand has served at the church for more than 30 years. He has a diploma in administration from École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montreal. He has worked as a general manager, and is currently active as a Sainte-Thérèse city councillor. Normand and Ginette have 3 children.
The Canadian conference welcomed Kelly Rader as account representative to the B.C. stewardship office, Apr. 1. She is job sharing with Shirley Bergen to give the Abbotsford office 5-day-a-week staffing. Kelly has a heart for ministry, having founded the charitable organization, Mentoring of Mothers Society in September 2000.
The MARK Centre, established in 2000, has obtained a new location on Pender Island, B.C. Former MBMSI missionaries Harold and Dorothy Siebert will serve as resident volunteer hosts at the retreat chalet on the Pacific Ocean shoreline. The Sieberts planted two MB churches in Bogotá, Colombia, while Harold served as MBMSI Latin America supervisor. Dorothy, previously editor and writer for Family Life Network, will also contribute as writer-in-residence.
Ken Peters (far right), pastor at Killarney Park MB Church, Vancouver, for 15 years, concluded his ministry there Apr. 4. He will begin as lead pastor at Saanich Community Church, Victoria, May 1. The congregation at Killarney Park called David Chow, associate pastor for community outreach, to the role of lead pastor, beginning Apr. 11, with an installation service May 16. Ken and Yvonne have 3 adult children. David and Charlene have 4 children.
