The Alberta MB Conference executive announced Daniel Beutler as executive director under the new provincial governance model. Daniel had been serving the Canadian conference as a ReFocusing facilitator, ministry systems facilitator, and as part of the Eagle’s Flight team. Prior to that, he pastored at Linden (Alta.) MB Church. He began his new role Feb. 15, and will be formally commissioned by the executive at the annual convention in Linden, Alta., Mar. 19–20. Daniel and Maureen have 2 children.

Gospel Fellowship Church in Foam Lake, Sask., welcomed Manfred Koehler as pastor Jan. 4. He has a BMin from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Ind. Previously, Manfred and Beth spent 16 years among the Pima people in Mexico as church planters with New Tribes Mission.

Brian Ray began as pastor of Parkland Community Church, Yorkon, Sask., on Dec. 15. Brian has a BA from Briercrest College and an MDiv from Canadian Theological Seminary, Calgary. He served in the Evangelical Free Church of Canada for 11 years, most recently in Fort St. James, B.C. Brian and Rachel have 1 son.

West Portal Church, Saskatchewan, welcomed Alan Whyte as associate pastor of care and spiritual formation Jan. 12. Previously Irma Barkman was serving in an interim capacity. Alan has a diploma in photography, and holds an MA in counselling from Providence Theological Seminary, Otterburne, Man. He has worked in a variety of fields, most recently spending 4 years at Teen Challenge Saskatchewan as life coach, and has served in lay leadership in several churches, most recently at Forest Grove Community Church, Saskatoon. Alan and Holly have 2 adult daughters.

Bob Cappelle concluded 7 years of service as lead pastor at Herbert (Sask.) MB Church in October. Bob and Betty plan to remain in Herbert for some time before looking for another pastoral assignment.

Joel Diamond resigned Dec. 31 as pastor of Living Hope Church, Saskatoon, where he ministered since 2006. He is now associate pastor at Erindale Alliance Church, Saskatoon. Dan Harder is offering part-time interim support to the congregation, including pulpit ministry. He previously served as youth pastor at Parliament Community Church, Regina, from 1992–1997, and is married to Helen.

On Nov. 8, Marilyn Muller concluded 7 years as children’s pastor at Forest Grove Community Church, Saskatoon.

Virginia Hooper, academic dean at Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C., for the past two years, resigned and concluded her work at the end of December 2009. Virginia brought particular vision to the areas of student learning communities, online learning, and developing partnerships with other schools. She will be seeking part-time work opportunities in the Lower Mainland area.
