ICOMB (International Community of Mennonite Brethren) education partners have seen many transitions this past year. Fresno Pacific University faculty emeritus Dalton Reimer retired from his volunteer role as ICOMB education facilitator. Victor Wall, president of Paraguay’s Instituto Biblico Asuncion, has been appointed to take on the education facilitator role over the 2012–2013 ministry year, with assistance from IBA graduate and librarian Benjamin Surance. The education facilitator develops educational interests – primary, secondary, and graduate – among the ICOMB member conferences by circulating a quarterly higher education newsletter, coordinating faculty exchanges, participating in the global scholarship fund committee, and preparing higher education consultations.
MB or MB-connected higher education institutions worldwide saw the following presidential transitions in 2012: Mbelolo ya Mpiku succeeded Komy Nsilu Diakubikua Nsilu as president of the Christian University of Kinshasa (UCKin) in DR Congo; I.P. Asheervadam succeeded S. Liangao Soto as president at MB Centenary Bible College,   Shamshabad, India; Ato Kiros Teka Haddis was installed as president of Meserete Kristos College in Ethiopia; faculty member Vasily V. Ryzhof became rector at St. Petersburg Christian University, Russia, succeeding Alexander Negrov who continues as dean at the graduate school of leadership; and Marlene Wall, serving in an interim capacity since 2011, was inaugurated Sept. 22, the first female university president in the history of Lithuania.

With assistance from Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba (MBCM), church plant Walls of Freedom purchased a ministry building. Previously owned by a congregation which outgrew the space, the facility includes a sanctuary, office space, craft room, kitchen, dining hall, youth room, and large yard. Pastors Jim and Jacqie Wiseman visit some 700 families in Winnipeg’s core area. Walls of Freedom’s first Sunday service was celebrated Nov. 25 in the new building. (They previously held a Thursday evening service at a rented school gym.)
