First-year student Candace Bighead was often seen around campus doodling in a notebook at Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask., during the school year. But, the 200 hours the Prince Albert, Sask., woman poured onto these pages weren’t a distraction from homework – the illustrated notebook was the major assignment for her Introduction to Jesus and the Gospels course.
Twenty-two years ago, I was born to two wonderful people, Eugene and Melina Cook. I am the middle child of their three girls. Dad was a traditional aboriginal man; he knew how to hunt, fish, prepare hides, was fluent in our native language. Mom, a lovely and compassionate person, is also fluent in Cree.
This month, the Canadian government’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission will hold a national listening event in Saskatoon from June 21–24.

Wall officially joined the Bethany team in July, but constituency, supporting churches, affiliate organizations, board of directors, faculty, staff, and students formally welcomed Wall to the role with the school’s first presidential inauguration in fall.

Drama opens dialogue on victim-offender mediation
by Karla BraunThe energy of a college ministry tour, the reconciliation work of a peace and justice agency, and the life experience of an author converged in the Re:connections drama tour in Saskatchewan, Apr. 27–May 3. Over seven days, Bethany Players performed nine times to audiences from Prince Albert to Swift Current, Sask.
Bethany College recognized graduate Jennifer Bright as a Delta Epsilon Chi scholar of the Association of Biblical Higher Education at the April 25 commencement ceremonies. The Florida-based ABHE comprises 200 postsecondary institutions across North America and is a member of the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education.
Graduates from CMU, Bethany and CBC
Bethany College, Hepburn, Sask., saw an overall decrease in enrollment in the current school year with 108 full-time equivalent students enrolled for the fall semester. The previous year, 129 were enrolled.
