Pastor cycles for Haiti

Driven by the desire to adopt a Haitian toddler, an Abbotsford, B.C. man spent 24 hours on his bicycle in a single weekend, late in September. Pastor James Penner of Ross Road Community Church and his wife Trish filed adoption papers to bring a one-year-old boy, Aulain, into their home from Haiti.

Costs incurred by the process are expected to mount up to $17,000. The bike ride was in support of that need.

James pedalled on the two parallel roads next to the Trans-Canada Highway through Abbotsford on Sept. 26 and 27, cycling 12 hours each day. He was cheered on and encouraged by many supporters, and at press time had raised $6,000.
