Katie declared faith in Jesus at 13. She attended Winkler (Man.) Bible Institute. Katie loved singing in choirs, accompanying musical groups, and teaching piano lessons. Through a singing group, she met Jake. Katie devoted herself to her family, giving them the confidence to succeed. Prayer was an important part of her life. As her children left home, Katie increased her involvement in music, organizing music for residents of Eden Health Care Services and Salem Home. Her compassion overflowed into service for the MCC thrift store. Katie and Jake hosted many friends and strangers. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2011, Katie continued to live a full life, making precious memories with her family. Her faith manifested itself in thankfulness.
