Katherine Wiens died Oct. 13, 2010. She was born Aug. 12, 1926 in Gretna, Man. to John and Katie Wiens. She attended MB Bible College, Manitoba Teacher’s College, and Wilfred Laurier University. She taught at Lord Kitchener School and MB Collegiate Institute, Winnipeg, and later was a teacher-librarian in St. Catharines, Ont. As a young woman, Kay served with MCC in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico. She volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages stores in Ephrata, Pa., and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. Kay was a librarian for Wycliffe Translators in the Philippines. She enjoyed reading, travelling, painting, and of course, people. Kay was a member of Grantham MB Church, St. Catharines, where she loved her work in the church library. Kay was an example of generosity and opened her home to many. She served her Lord with joy. Predeceased by her brother John, Kay is mourned by sisters Helen, Esther; 3 nieces.
