In his late teens, Jake left Rainbow Colony for Winnipeg. Jake and Louise raised their family in Niverville, Man., where Jake was active as ringette coach, volunteer fire fighter, and friend to whoever needed a hand. He made many good memories at Debonair Campground, St. Malo, Man. In May 2004, Jake accepted Jesus as Saviour, and a new journey began. Going to church and learning about his new faith was important to him. He met Linda October 2004; together they enjoyed time with extended family, camping at Miller Campground, going to church, and visiting friends over coffee. He loved the laughter he and his grandchildren shared.
