Ernest and Leona Dyck died Oct. 14, 2010. Ernie was born Dec. 8, 1919 in Borden, Sask. to Isaac L. & Mary Dyck. Leona was born Feb. 19, 1923 in Hepburn, Sask. to Cornelius and Elizabeth Heide. During the Depression, their families moved to Virgil, Ont., where they met. They both attended Bethany Bible Institute. Dec. 19, 1943, Ernie and Leona married and settled on a fruit farm in Virgil. Ernie was choir director at Virgil MB Church. They were both involved in starting the Sunday school work which became Niagara Christian Fellowship Chapel. There, Ernie again directed choir, taught Sunday school, and was involved in leadership. Leona sang in the choir and was Sunday school treasurer for many years. In 1966, they moved to Abbotsford, B.C., where Central Heights MB Church became their church home. Ernie was involved in the singing ministry, youth work, and Sunday school. Ernie and Leona were on the Festival Committee for many years. Leona’s health deteriorated due to several small strokes, and in 2003, she became a resident at Menno Home, Clearbrook, B.C.
